22 Weeks
I haven't been able to update much lately. I am so busy this time of year. I have had caroling gigs, school programs, work, house renovations, etc.
We finally closed on our refinance last week. Woohoo! We are building a shed/storage unit/man cave, converting the garage to a new music studio, converting my current studio into a nursery. It's very stressful, but we have wonderful people in our lives willing to help us out. I am grateful!
I was asked by a stranger if I was pregnant last week. This is the first time. I was actually surprised. I was wearing my caroling costume that everyone look frumpy in. I guess it's no secret now. :)
Here are some of the ultrasound pics from November 28th when we found out he's a boy

It's a....
My family came over tonight for Thanksgiving Round 2. My mom wanted to do the pencil test gender prediction. We tried it a few times her way....the test predicted that it's a girl. My brother looked up the specific rules on the internet. Apparently, there are many websites dedicated to this test. I tried it on my hand, wrist, belly, and with someone else holding the string. Every time....girl. My family has said they think it's a girl from the beginning. Most of our friends predict it's a boy. I'm so excited to find out. We will know for sure next Wednesday.

Happy Thanksgiving
19 Weeks
We had a wonderful time with our families today. I have so much to be thankful for! We had 17 people eat dinner in our tiny home today. It was absolutely wonderful. After a huge meal, David and I sang some Christmas songs we've been working on. Of course Grandma had some song requests, "What a Day That Will Be" and "The Lighthouse." My grandmother will be 91 next week. I am thankful to still have her around. We had as many desserts as side dishes today. We are so stuffed and ready to relax. Tomorrow, we will have my family back over for round 2 as we celebrated my Mom's birthday! I have a feeling that I may see some weight gain when I go to the doctor next week. :)

18 Weeks
Somehow I have made it to 18 weeks pregnant, and it really feels like the time has flown by. I think having so much going on at work leaves a lot less to time to just be pregnant. I feel great! I've been watching what I eat....this week. Next week is Thanksgiving and I'm not holding back for that. My Mother-in-law is bring Peanut Butter Pie and it's the main thing on my mind right now. Our little butter bean is about the size of a sweet potato now and busy putting on weight as he or she is getting bigger by the day - just like me! Here is my 18 week bump shot. 2 weeks until our next ultrasound!

ULTRASOUND
We had an ultrasound today!!! Last week, my doctor tried to hear the heartbeat. She warned me beforehand that you can't always hear it this early, but I still got worried when there was no sound. Dr. Puritz scheduled an ultrasound right away to calm my nerves.
We found out that I'm actually a little further along than I thought. I'm 14.1 weeks today. I questioned that maybe it's just a long baby. We are extremely tall people.
We got to see our beautiful baby kick, squirm, AND we got to hear the heartbeat. 158 bpm. At one point it looked like Baby Hardwick was sucking it's thumb. So stinkin' cute!
I can't wait to meet this beautiful baby!

Sharing the Good News
It has been so much fun telling our friends and family about Baby Hardwick!
We told both sets of parents at only 6 weeks. They were SO excited! We got to hear many stories of our mother's pregnancies. David's mother only gained 9 lbs when she had the twins.
NINE POUNDS???
I like the stories of people that gain 65 lbs better. It makes me feel safe. Not that plan on gaining that much, but I like to feel like if I come in under that number, I'm good.
My mother told us how she demanded that my dad go out and get her 19 tootsie rolls. She didn't want 18 or 20....it had to be NINETEEN!! We laughed so hard.
I've heard it's not hormones, it's horror-mones.
We told our friends at different times and in different ways.....in person, phone, email, facebook. I have many friends with children already. They have been really helpful with all my questions. Can I take tylenol? How much coffee is too much? Can I eat this? Is it safe to exercise? Are cough drops safe?
Is this supposed to happen? I'm sure they must be tired of me already.
My favorite sharing experience has been with my school choir. I have worked at Christ the King for 5 years now. My first year I only had about 12 students sign up for choir.
They must have been skeptical. I don't blame them. My current choir is made up of 41 4th through 7th graders and we are busting at the seams. I think this is the best choir so far. I am very close to this group of kids....maybe it's because I was a chorus nerd all my life.
I get them and they seem to get me too.
I told them at rehearsal yesterday. The word was starting to spread around school anyway. After a huge applause, a 4th grader came up to give me a high-five. She was so excited as she exclaimed, "I've always wanted a Baby Hardwick!" The choir suggested that they vote on names for the Baby. The ballot so far includes Harmony and Melody. If he have a boy, he will hate us forever.
My 7th grade general music class wanted to make sure I knew what I am getting into. The class told me how hard it's going to be and that my life will change forever.
I'm sure their life experiences have taught them this. :)
The winning response to our news comes from a 7th grade boy. *Drum roll please*
"You know, your life is over now!"
